IN RESPONSE

Tackling the Damage

Teams of Volunteer Ministers deployed across the Clearwater area to secure and clean up damage at Drew Ridge Apartments, where Irma threw sheets of roofing onto parked cars, and the Drew Gas Express station, where dangerous electrical cables and twisted metal hung over gas pumps. VMs welcomed the famed Mexican disaster search and rescue team, Los Topos (The Moles), whose fearless disaster relief efforts are supported by the Church. Los Topos had just completed a Hurricane Harvey relief mission, in Texas, and then, when Irma took aim, moved rapidly to Florida to work alongside the Florida Volunteer Ministers.
